At Holt Area Caring Society, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in the Holt area by providing essential transportation to medical appointments.

Community support

Holt Area Caring Society is (HACS) is a local charity whose aim is to provide essential transport for patients of the Holt Medical Practice to their medical appointments in Holt and beyond.

Any patient registered with the Holt Medical Practice can request a lift from their home to their medical appointment and back. They are invited to make a donation towards their transport at a rate of £0.50 per mile, with a minimum charge of £5. The driver’s time comes free!

All our drivers are volunteers who come from all walks of life. They use their own car and are paid mileage at a rate of £0.46 per mile and a subsistence payment for longer journeys. Knowing what a significant difference they can make to the lives of others makes it a rewarding way to spend their time.

We cover Holt and the villages linked to the Holt Medical Practice. Most journeys are to local surgeries, dentists and opticians, but some are further afield to hospitals in Norwich, Kings Lynn and, sometimes, Cambridge or even London.

There is no expectation on drivers to commit to a minimum number of journeys, nor any obligation to undertake the longer journeys.
